Charlean Leann Cooper

Charlean Leann Cooper is the Chief Legal Officer and co-founder of Cooper & Cooper, P.A., where she oversees the firm’s legal operations, litigation strategy, and client representation within the family law division.

Known for her strong courtroom presence, strategic litigation skills, and unwavering commitment to advocacy, Charlean has built her legal career around helping individuals and families navigate some of the most emotionally difficult and high-stakes situations they may ever face. Her passion for advocacy began early with a desire to help individuals who often feel unheard or overwhelmed by the legal system, particularly children and families in crisis.

Originally from North Carolina, Charlean graduated summa cum laude from Western Carolina University with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science before relocating to Florida to attend the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

During law school, Charlean gained extensive hands-on legal experience through multiple advocacy-focused roles. She served as a Legal Intern for the Florida Department of Children and Families in both Children’s Legal Services and the Office of the General Counsel. She also worked as a Certified Legal Intern with the Gator TeamChild Juvenile Law Clinic, where she advocated for vulnerable children and families within the legal system.

Following law school, Charlean began her legal career with the Florida Department of Children and Families, Children’s Legal Services, where she served as both a Certified Legal Intern and later as an Associate Attorney. In that role, she represented the State of Florida in dependency proceedings, motion hearings, court dockets, and trials throughout Northeast Florida. The experience provided her with substantial courtroom exposure early in her career and helped develop the litigation foundation that continues to shape her practice today.

After building a strong litigation background through Children’s Legal Services, Charlean transitioned into private family law practice, where she has continued to focus heavily on contested litigation matters involving divorce, child custody, paternity, child support, alimony, modifications, and other complex family law disputes. She has represented clients through all stages of litigation, including mediations, evidentiary hearings, temporary relief proceedings, and trial.

At Cooper & Cooper, P.A., Charlean plays a central role in overseeing litigation strategy, case development, legal operations, and attorney supervision within the family law division. She is known for her detail-oriented approach, strong advocacy skills, and deep commitment to helping clients navigate difficult legal situations with professionalism, compassion, and strategic guidance.

Under the leadership of Charlean and her husband and law partner, Anthony Cooper, Cooper & Cooper, P.A. has rapidly grown into a multi-attorney Northeast Florida law firm serving clients throughout Clay County, Duval County, St. Johns County, and the surrounding areas.

Outside of the office, Charlean enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and their corgi. She is an avid reader and enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her family.

Charlean remains deeply committed to advocating for families and helping clients move forward during some of the most challenging and transformative moments of their lives.
