Parenting and Divorce Decisions

When parents separate, practical questions often arise about the children’s schedule, transportation, communication and responsibility for decisions. Our family-law team helps clients address parenting plans alongside financial issues such as support, the family home, debts and property division.

If there is already a court order, bring a copy to the consultation. Moving to a new community does not itself replace an existing order. Your attorney can evaluate whether an enforcement, modification or other proceeding may be appropriate.

Estate Planning After a Move or Family Change

A new home is a useful reason to review property ownership and how it fits with your estate plan. Marriage, divorce, a new child or a change in the people you trust to make decisions can also affect your planning goals.

Our estate-planning team helps clients evaluate wills, trusts, powers of attorney and health care documents. A trust may be useful for some objectives, but choosing a trust and coordinating the assets are separate decisions. Bring existing documents even if they were prepared before you moved to Florida.

Confirm the County Connected to Your Matter

Nocatee includes neighborhoods in both St. Johns and Duval counties. Give intake the property address and any existing case number or court order. The community name alone does not determine where a case belongs; venue and jurisdiction depend on the type of matter and its facts.

This is especially useful when you have moved since an earlier parenting case or when property and family members are in different locations. We use that information to identify the appropriate next step before a consultation is scheduled.

Probate and Guardianship Questions

Following a death, you may need help understanding estate administration and the role of the personal representative. A guardianship concern involves different questions about a person’s needs, legal rights and available alternatives. Our probate and guardianship team can discuss the matter and the information needed to evaluate it.
