Family Law Paralegal

Build a Meaningful Career With One of Florida’s Fastest-Growing Law Firms

Location: Fleming Island, Florida  |  Position Type: Full Time  |  Practice Area: Family Law

The Opportunity

Your Work Should Be More Than a List of Tasks

A great family law paralegal does far more than prepare documents, calendar deadlines, and organize files.

You help attorneys build stronger cases.

You help clients feel supported during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

You help ensure that critical details are not overlooked and that every matter continues moving forward.

At Cooper & Cooper, paralegals are essential members of the legal team. We are looking for an experienced professional who takes ownership of their work, communicates confidently, and understands the difference an exceptional paralegal can make for both the attorney and the client.

Growth & Career Path

This Is an Opportunity to Grow With Us

Cooper & Cooper has grown into a seven-figure law firm in a remarkably short period of time.

That growth did not happen by accident.

It came from being intentional about the people we hire, the service we provide, the systems we build, and the future we are creating.

We are continuing to expand our family law practice and are looking for a paralegal who wants more than a place to clock in and complete assignments.

We want someone who takes pride in becoming an indispensable part of their legal team and who is excited about growing alongside a firm that is continually improving.

Why Cooper & Cooper

What Makes Cooper & Cooper Different?

A True Team Structure

Our goal is to build each legal team around one attorney, one paralegal, and one legal assistant.

Each person has a defined role, but no one succeeds alone.

Paralegals work closely with their assigned attorney and legal assistant to manage cases, prepare legal work, support clients, and keep every matter moving forward.

Meaningful Responsibility

We do not view paralegals as administrative employees.

Our paralegals perform substantive legal work, communicate directly with clients, assist with case strategy, prepare matters for hearings and trial, and play an important role in the financial and operational success of their team.

Modern Systems and Technology

We continually invest in technology, automation, artificial intelligence, templates, and improved workflows.

Our goal is not to replace good judgment or legal experience. It is to eliminate unnecessary friction so our team can spend more time doing valuable work for clients.

A Firm That Rewards Growth

We want team members who are interested in becoming better at what they do.

As the firm expands, strong performers will have opportunities to take on greater responsibility, assist with training, contribute to improved systems, and grow into leadership positions.

The Role

What You’ll Do

As a Family Law Paralegal, you will work closely with an attorney and legal assistant to help manage an active family law caseload.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Communicating regularly with clients and providing appropriate case updates.
  • Drafting pleadings, motions, notices, correspondence, discovery, and other legal documents.
  • Preparing and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions.
  • Assisting clients with mandatory disclosure and financial affidavit requirements.
  • Reviewing, organizing, and summarizing financial records and discovery.
  • Preparing equitable distribution schedules and other financial analyses.
  • Monitoring deadlines, court orders, discovery obligations, and case milestones.
  • Coordinating with opposing counsel, experts, mediators, and court personnel.
  • Preparing hearing, mediation, deposition, and trial materials.
  • Organizing exhibits and preparing hearing or trial notebooks.
  • Assisting the attorney with case preparation and litigation strategy.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely billing entries.
  • Working collaboratively with the attorney and legal assistant assigned to your team.
  • Helping ensure every client receives responsive, professional, and compassionate service.

  • Capable of balancing urgency with accuracy.
  • Comfortable working in a billable-hour environment.
  • Accountable for deadlines, assignments, and results.
  • Able to receive feedback and apply it constructively.
  • Willing to take initiative rather than waiting to be reminded.
  • Collaborative, professional, and dependable.
  • Interested in growing with the firm over the long term.

Strong candidates will have experience with:

  • Florida dissolution of marriage and paternity matters.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Family Law Paralegal at Cooper & Cooper:

  • Takes full ownership of assigned work.

A Personal Note

A Personal Note from Anthony Cooper

When Charlean and I founded Cooper & Cooper, we knew that building an exceptional law firm would require more than hiring exceptional attorneys.

Great law firms are built by great teams.

A talented paralegal can transform the experience of an attorney, a client, and an entire legal department. The best paralegals do not simply wait for assignments. They understand their cases, anticipate what comes next, solve problems, and take genuine ownership of the work.

That is the kind of person we are looking for.

We want to create a firm where paralegals are respected for the value they provide, supported in their professional development, and given the opportunity to grow as the firm grows.

If you take pride in doing excellent work, care deeply about the clients you serve, and want to help us build something truly special, I hope you will apply.
